Our story

‘Performance Massage Therapy for ALL performers, no matter the label: for the Individual, the Artist, the Athlete.’

About me

For those who don’t know, my name is Junior Delius

(I know...not much of a Junior!), founder of JD x PMT.

As a trained actor, singer, dancer, and former track and field athlete, I know firsthand how muscle tension can negatively impact performance and the benefits that massage therapy provides in facilitating injury rehabilitation and supporting musculoskeletal health.

Whilst training at my first drama school institution, I sustained a severe muscle strain injury in my left foot. This injury has had an ongoing effect on my performance career, as at the time I didn’t know the correct procedures to follow to treat the injury, nor did I have the funds to be seen by a qualified physical therapist ASAP, and by the time I was assessed by a physiotherapist under the NHS, I was advised that assessment of the injury would have been more advantageous had I been assessed sooner.

This firsthand experience highlighted to me some of the barriers that individuals face towards accessing affordable and essential injury rehabilitation services (especially performing arts students or graduates, who are financially stretched and are exploring the mobilisation of their bodies in new ways without having a full understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy) - thus, are more prone to sustained and long-term injury management. This, coupled with my understanding of the injuries sustained by actors (who are athletes!) during my time working in the West End, as well as my history competing in track and field, propelled me to seek further education in performance injury rehabilitation, with a principal aim to provide massage therapy services that are easily accessible to ALL individuals (also made financially possible by our PWYC scheme offered - *see FAQs page for more info*).
